Wheatfield with Cypresses – ๐จ by Vincent Van Gogh 1889 – National Gallery, London.
๐ฌ๐ง There are three different versions of this scene painted by Van Gogh in the summer of 1889, while he was spending some time in a mental asylum in Saint-Remy, in the South of France. All paintings depict the view from his room’s window at the asylum. The painting on the right, presently exhibited at the National Gallery, is the studio version, painted in September 1889. The first “plain air” version is exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of New York.
