One of my favourite subjects for photography is nature, in all its possible expressions, although the most stunning natural spectacle is undoubtedly a sunset, with its fleeting explosion of colours. Sunlight reflections on water make this end of the day show even more exciting, with contrasting colour combinations and composition of mirrored shapes. What I find also particularly attractive in chasing sunsets is the unpredictability of the final result. One never knows how, even a very familiar scene, will turn out in the glowing and unexpected light of a sunset.
The shimmering light of a sunset against the skyline of a city can provide dramatic effects and turn a familiar profile into a unique image. As a sunset chaser i try to find spots in familiar places where a sunset can produce some interesting colours and shapes. London and its river are stimulating places for my quest at the last hours of light during the day. Berlin and its westward-looking Brandenburg Gate is the perfect backdrop for stunning sunset shots.
The most astonishing effects are obtained by taking shots of sunsets at sea, with reflections and shimmering colours on the seawater. I always love the incredible energy coming from admiring a sunset scene by the ocean or the sun coming down on a quiet sea.
