Celebrating the 207^th anniversary of his birth

🇬🇧 Composer of some of the most popular operas put on stage around the world – Rigoletto, Aida, Falstaff, Il trovatore, La traviata – Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) was also linked to the political movement which sought the reunification of Italy. Some of his early operas are considered also a contribution to the building of a nationalist feeling. Verdi played an active role in the lead up to the reunification of Italy and his music was reflecting the mood of the early revolutionaries who fought against foreign oppression in the middle of the XIX century.

Still today, two of his popular operas (La traviata and Rigoletto) are amongst the 10 most frequently performed operas worldwide and the arias from his operas are among the most popular.

🇮🇹 Compositore di alcune delle opere più famose messe in scena in tutto il mondo – Rigoletto, Aida, Falstaff, Il trovatore, La traviata – Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) fu anche legato al movimento politico per la riunificazione d’Italia. Alcune delle sue prime opere sono considerate anche un contributo alla costruzione di un sentimento nazionalista. Verdi svolse un ruolo attivo nel processo di riunificazione dell’Italia e la sua musica rifletteva lo stato d’animo dei primi rivoluzionari che combattevano contro l’oppressione straniera a metà del XIX secolo.

Ancora oggi, due delle sue opere popolari ( La traviata e Rigoletto) sono tra le 10 opere più rappresentate al mondo e le arie delle sue opere sono tra le più riconoscibili e popolari.
