Still life photography 🔮🍂📷

In my photographs there are very rarely people, so photos with inanimate objects are certainly among my favorite photographic subjects. The food I prepare or eat in a restaurant is certainly a popular subject on my Instagram profile too and some good practice for my food photography. Perhaps there is not a great artistic research in photographing what is served to us on a plate but, somehow, it reflects and makes less fleeting the everyday and banal pleasures to which we normally pay attention only for a few minutes, before swallowing what we are being served. Most of the time the chef in the kitchen has applied time and skills to present us a dish that deserves some more attention than the few moments before satisfying our appetite.

The same goes for other objects that we find already arranged and that attract our photographic attention for a shot that inspires us for symmetry or contrast, some cases of natural composition photography. In this case, the framing of the image is what expresses my way of looking at the reality that is offered to my eyes. I am normally inspired by perfect or broken symmetry and strident contrasts of colours or light, and we are surrounded by many examples of these patterns. We just have to be curious in capturing such images.

My interest in photography is a relatively recent passion, in fact I have hardly any photographs taken by me before the last ten years. Having more time available for my interests, a skill that I would like to develop is that relating to the construction of creative compositions of still life. Certainly translucent materials and contrasting colors are what most attract me as a potential subject, so watch this space if you are interested in these too.
