Restaurants in London ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’‚๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฅ˜

My top 10 favourite restaurants in London

The past two years have been quite challenging for the hospitality sector globally and this has impacted heavily on the economic health of many businesses, regardless of their location. This wants to be an opportunity to celebrate my personal top list of good restaurants in London, from many different categories, which have endured difficult times and are still offering very good quality to their affectionate customers,

The Ivy Garden in Chelsea is always a guarantee of good food and excellent service. Here I can always be tempted with the kind of food I should not be eating but an exception can be done for a dinner with friends, in a very nice ambience. Consistent quality also means you will have to book in advance to get a table, especially for dinner.

A bit hidden away from the main road in Union Street, along the railway arches of Old Union Yard Arches, I have recently discovered a restaurant featuring yummy cuisine from Tel Aviv, Bala Baya. It takes some sense of venture to move along the narrow passage of arches to find out this treasure trove of cute restaurants with alfresco seating, which is coming useful in this post lockdown period. Dishes are very colourful and packed with intense flavours from the Middle East tradition. A real delight for the eyes and your palate.

Fresh oysters sourced from various places are surely the main point of attraction for this informal seafood restaurant next to Borough Market, Wright Brothers. Depending on your taste you may prefer raw oysters with no condiments or flame-grilled and seasoned. Whatever your personal choice you can rest assured your palate will be delighted with fresh and strong marine flavours that have no equal. Place of origin of course plays its role too and my preference goes to Jersey oysters,

My Old Dutch is absolutely my favourite Dutch pancakes restaurant, with thin pancakes that are so yummy and filling. Now with stores both in Chelsea and Holborn. My favourite dish is the seafood pancakes with shrimps, tuna and olives. Of course, apart from savoury pancakes you will also find very appealing sweet ones.

At Chotto Matte there is a great choices of fusion dishes in between Japanese and South American cuisines, with fantastic platters of sashimi and sushi, along with grilled meats and tasty vegetables. Very good customer service and very pleasant ambience, a guarantee for a nice night out with friends in Soho.

A great discovery as a relatively quiet oasis in the busy Borough Market, Fish! is a very nice seafood restaurant, with freshly sourced produce and great customer service. Probably one of my new favourites seafood restaurants in South London.

Always nice to have brunch at the Toulouse Lautrec Brasserie, on the terrace of even these late summer days. During the rest of the year one can always appreciate the jazz evenings on the first floor of the restaurant.

The combination of burgers and lobsters may seem quite odd, putting together what is perceived as a low budget dish with one of the most expensive delicacies. In actual facts Burger & Lobster caters for a good variety of mainstream customers who like good food without the fuss of high class attitude towards luxury food.

Kutir is a newly discovered Indian restaurant close by to Sloane Square hosted in a renovated townhouse with ambitious cooking. Indeed this was a very pleasant surprise with well designed interiors, that combine harmoniously the original townhouse architecture with strong and elegant design elements from the subcontinent

If you fancy a nice excursion in one of the greener corners of London and a little foodie treat, I would advice to venture in Richmond and visit this little gem. The area around Petersham Nurseries is disseminated with various greenhouses and open plant displays with a great variety of seedlings from the nurseries.
