Celebrating the 211th anniversary of the birth of Franz Liszt, born in 1811

Franz Liszt was a 19th-century Hungarian pianist and composer, born in what is now Hungary on 22 October 1811. He is one of the most famous and influential musicians of the Romantic era. His brilliant technique and dramatic interpretations have earned him a place in history as one of the great geniuses of all time. Franz Liszt’s father intended him to study law but he showed an early interest in music. He began teaching piano at the age of thirteen and made his debut as a concert pianist at sixteen. Throughout his life, he continued to perform with great success. He also studied composition with Robert Flesch, another well-known pianist. By the age of twenty-one, Liszt had composed his first symphony.

Liszt became one of the most famous and influential composers of the Romantic era because his musical style was unconventional for his time; he occasionally composed Hungarian folk songs into his orchestral works. He also composed symphonies, concertos, sonatas, chamber music and many other works. Some of Liszt’s most famous compositions include Hungarian Rhapsody No. 7, Liebestraum No. 3, La lugubre gondola and Danse macabre suite No. 2 in G Minor. All these works show off Liszt’s musical skills and talent for composition.

Liszt also toured Europe extensively performing as a popular and virtuoso pianist. By 1843, he had gained international acclaim as a virtuoso pianist, composer and conductor. During this time, he lived in Paris where he wrote some of his best works including Faust Symphony and Le gendaresse di Provenza e Ponsardina con una Sintetica Introduzione e Finale di Rossini e Di Lulli Varianti (The Gondoliers). In addition to performing on stage, he also composed several pieces for solo piano such as Etude-Scherzo No. 3 in B-flat Minor and Le martyre de Faust No. 2 in A-flat major-2nd version (Faust’s Tragedy).

Franz Liszt revolutionized classical music with his innovative techniques and tremendous talent. His body of work affected popular music even today through timeless compositions such as La valse fantastica No. 1 in A-flat major or Liebestraum No 3 in E minor. Throughout history, great geniuses such as Franz Liszt have forever changed the world with their boundless creativity.
